Dashdorj, Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, is the keynote speaker.
Speakers and panelists will include other senior Mongolian officials, senior executives of top foreign mining companies already operating in Mongolia, Mongolian Ambassador to Canada R. Altangerel, and Canadian Ambassador to Mongolia Ed Jager. Other presenters include the popular columnist and economic commentator Jargalsaikhan Dambadarjaa, better known as Jargal De Facto after the name of his TV and radio news programs. Jargal’s background includes serving as a bank CEO, as the first chief of Mongolia’s first investment promotion agency and an MBA from the University of Denver.
Paired for commentary on the March 5 program are MP Ch. Khurelbaatar and Layton Croft, a US-based mining consultant. Khurelbaatar previously served as Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister and President of Mongolia, State Secretary of the Finance Ministry and Minister for Fuel and Energy. Croft, currently a director of Erdene Resource Development Inc. (ERD), was previously Vice President for public affairs and community relations of Oyu Tolgoi LLC and later Peabody Energy and is a former member of the NAMBC board of directors. NAMBC President Steve Saunders is moderator for the segment on “Unlocking the Potential.”
The event is organized under the leadership of the Mining Ministry, together with Erdenes Mongol LLC, the Embassy of Mongolia to Canada, the NAMBC and a variety of corporate supporters.
