London's Lord Mayor meets with NAMBC
(The Lord
Mayor of London,
and NAMBC's UB office Manager, Bolorsuvd)
Alderman David Brewer, the
678th Lord Mayor of the City of London,
was the featured speaker at the NAMBC's monthly
meeting on February 27 in UB. He was accompanied by
a delegation of 15 officials from British banks, investment
firms, tax advisors, solicitors and others who traveled with him to Mongolia and six cities in China.
London has had a Lord Mayor for 817 years. Mr.
Brewer described his duties running the City of London -- which is only one square mile
within Greater London. The Lord Mayor's most important non-ceremonial function
is as spokesman to promote Britain's
position as one of the world's leading international financial centers.
During his one-year term of office, the Lord Mayor will visit 23 foreign
countries including a second visit to China later this year. Among his
hobbies are chocolates and making outrageous puns. Dean Andrew Lock of the
University of Leeds Business School also spoke. LBS
is ranked #3 in research out of all
European business schools and as one of the top 100 business schools in the
world. Mongolian President N. Enkhbayar is a graduate
of the University
of Leeds.
Victor Ng, co-founder and
Group CEO of London Asia Capital, announced his firm's joint venture with Capitron Bank of Mongolia to assist Mongolian
companies in raising private equity and other capital internationally. The Lord
Mayor is a non-executive director of his firm.
